چکیده

This article deals with the univariate calibration problem where calibration data come from several independent sources. Such a situation arises when measurements are made using different instruments or methods, or at diierent laboratories. It is assumed that the response variable at each source is normally distributed and the relationship between the response variable and the explanatory variable is a linear regression model, where the model parameters are diierent at the diierent sources. The problem of interest is the construction of a conndence region for a common unknown value of the explanatory variable after observing the corresponding response at each source. The conndence region that is constructed is a multiple use conndence region, i.e., the calibration data will be used repeatedly to construct a sequence of conndence regions for a sequence of unknown values of the explanatory variable. After deriving such a conndence region, its computation is described in detail and illustrated using an example where the data came from two diierent sources. For the example, the conndence regions based on combined information turned out to be narrower than those based on the data from any individual source.

On Calibration and Application of Logit-Based Stochastic Traffic Assignment Models

There is a growing recognition that discrete choice models are capable of providing a more realistic picture of route choice behavior. In particular, influential factors other than travel time that are found to affect the choice of route trigger the application of random utility models in the route choice literature. This paper focuses on path-based, logit-type stochastic route choice models, i...

Uncertainty Estimation and Figures of Merit for Multivariate Calibration

This paper gives an introduction to multivariate calibration from a chemometrics perspective and reviews the various proposals to generalize the well-established univariate methodology to the multivariate domain. Univariate calibration leads to relatively simple models with a sound statistical underpinning. The associated uncertainty estimation and figures of merit are thoroughly covered in sev...

Temperature-independent near-infrared analysis of lysozyme aqueous solutions.

Digital Fourier filtering is used to produce a temperature-insensitive univariate calibration model for measuring lysozyme in aqueous solutions. Absorbance spectra over the 5000-4000 cm-1 spectral range are collected for lysozyme standards maintained at 14 degrees C. These spectra are used to compute the calibration model while a set of spectra collected at temperatures ranging from 4 to 24 deg...

Development of a Sensitive Spectrofluorometric-Multivariate Calibration Method for Enzyme Kinetic of Aldehyde Oxidase

Attempts to obtain experimental values for the kinetic parameters of phenanthridine oxidation by guinea pig or rabbit liver aldehyde oxidase using common spectrophotometric methods have not been successful due to a lower limit of detection. In the present study, a new spectrofluorimetric assay in combination with a multivariate calibration method for enzymatic kinetic study of aldehyde oxidase ...

A statistical overview on univariate calibration, inverse regression, and detection limits: Application to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry technique.

The paper summarizes critically the current approaches for the calculation of the limits of detection and quantification. In the context of the description of the method based on the calibration line, the arguments concerning the underlying experimental design, the choice of the appropriate model in the univariate regression, the effects of the dispersion characteristics of the data are deeply ...
